Course Philosophy and Model of ABCmouse Regular Program
1. Definition
(1) Method + Guidance
ABCmouse Regular Program is achieved by teaching children the learning and usage methods of platform categories, guiding children to learn independently.
(2) Accompaniment + Motivation + Persistence
ABCmouse Regular Program is when teachers use the platform to accompany and motivate children in their learning, enabling them to apply their knowledge to similar materials. This allows for independent learning while also practicing spoken communication.
Therefore, ABCmouse Regular Program is a new era English learning model that teaches children to use an app, with teachers as companions, and provides a spoken language practice environment to help children acquire English.
2. Learning Method
ABCmouse Regular Program uses 'teachers guiding children to learn English alongside the platform' as its learning method.
The ABCmouse Regular Program learning method emphasizes teacher guidance, directing children to learn English alongside the platform, rather than 'teaching.' In the latter, the teacher imparts the content of each lesson, and these two approaches have a fundamental difference. Understanding the distinction between 'companion reading' and 'teaching' can help us better comprehend the learning method of offline companion reading.
3. Principles of Class
The ABCmouse Regular Program classroom activities primarily focus on hands-on operations and demonstrations by the students, with teachers providing guidance and oral interaction as a supplementary role. Teachers do not lead the reading as a classroom principle.
In the ABCmouse Regular Program classroom, children take on the role of being the leaders of their learning by using the platform, while teachers serve as guides and facilitators rather than instructors or readers. Additionally, teachers create a platform for children to showcase their independent learning achievements through collective learning activities, motivating children to maintain their enthusiasm for continuous learning at home and further enhancing their independent learning capabilities.
4. Objectives
1. The objectives of early childhood education in ABCmouse Regular Program are as follows: Early learners should be able to engage in 1-5 minutes of interactive communication in English.
2. The term '1-5 minutes of free communication' refers to the ability of early learners to engage in 1-5 minutes of spontaneous and unrestricted English language communication with teachers, other early learners, or foreign instructors after completing preschool classes at Dadi (the institution) (the content of the communication is not limited).
3. In offline coaching activities, teachers can achieve this objective through the following three methods:
①Teacher-Student Communication: Teachers engage in oral interaction with early learners based on material content.
②Student-Student Communication: Teachers guide early learners to engage in oral interaction with each other based on material content.
③Picture Talk: Teachers use material content to guide early learners in discussing pictures.
5. Teaching Model: Offline Coaching + Online Assistance + Special ABCmouse Activities
Offline Coaching: Through offline 1-on-30 interactions, it promotes the idea of children 'listening attentively, speaking along, self-directed learning, and flexible application.'
Supporting Resources: Progress charts, reference lesson plans, reference videos.
Online Assistance:
1. Guiding App Usage: This includes progress reminders, duration prompts, method guidance, and motivational encouragement.
2. Promoting 'Family Talk': Sharing 'Family Talk' resources to encourage parents to communicate with their children, creating a positive interactive environment.
3. Monitoring Attendance and Reviews: Guiding children to participate in attendance activities, understanding their learning progress, providing timely reviews, and tracking feedback.
4. Group Interaction and Q&A (Online): Maintaining continuous interaction, encouraging children to persist in usage, assessing and sharing children's learning outcomes, regular message notifications, and Q&A sessions.
5. Individual Learning Situation Communication: Tracking children's individual learning situations, providing feedback, and witnessing their growth.
6. Guiding Parents with the Right Educational Philosophy: Sharing educational philosophy information and guiding new insights.
Special ABCmouse Activities: These include various types of activities, such as daily, weekly, monthly, national, and festive events, creating a platform for showcasing.
